Visiting the Grand Canyon state and not see the Canyon? Don’t miss this opportunity to experience one of the great wonders of the world! But this isn’t just any trip to a National Park… as participants of the APGA Convention you will enjoy commentary by plant experts – from the Desert Botanical Garden as well as the National Park Service.
Upon arrival, you will have lunch and then you can choose to participate in the following activities:
- Wendy Hodgson, Herbarium Curator & Research Botanist at DBG will guide for a 1.5-mile hike down South Kaibab Trail, giving you a glimpse into the diversity of the inner canyon.
- Horticulturist and Grand Canyon Plant Propagator, Jan Busco, will lead a Botanical Journey along the South Rim. She will unveil the canyon’s great botanical diversity and introduce you to the forest and woodland plants.
- NPS Geologist, Allyson Mathis, will share the long history of the canyon and its amazing geological make-up during a walk along the new Trail of Time.
- There will be two opportunities to view the amazing collection at the NPS Museum with Curator, Colleen Hyde. 1:00pm and 3:00pm
Nothing compares to watching the sun rise over the Canyon for breathtaking vistas that continually change color. Following a relaxing breakfast, we depart Grand Canyon Village driving east along the rim, stopping at the Desert View Watchtower for a different perspective of the Canyon. Traveling east we are treated to exquisite views of the Little Colorado Canyon on the Navajo Reservation, which adjoins the Park. After an included lunch at the historic Cameron Trading Post, we head south to the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale, arriving ~5:00pm.
Tour Rate: $369/person, double occupancy; $349/person, triple or quad occupancy; $469/person, single occupancy
