Description

This two-day tour features the very best attractions in the Flagstaff area. We start with a guided tour of the Museum of Northern Arizona, featuring nine galleries evoking the very spirit of the Colorado Plateau with its diverse Native cultures, natural sciences, ecology and fine arts. Then we visit the impressive Riordan Mansion which was built by two brothers in 1904 for their families. The docent-led tour will lead you through 40 rooms of living area, richly furnished with original artifacts – a great example of gracious living in a small, territorial town.

Next we enjoy a catered lunch at the 200-acre botanical garden of The Arboretum at Flagstaff. Following a leisurely lunch, you can explore the garden on Flagstaffyour own or join a guided group walking the trails. After an afternoon of fresh air and exercise, we will transfer to The Woodlands Hotel to check in for the evening. Dinner is own your own in the historic district downtown where you can choose from a plethora of eateries. Following dinner, you will have the opportunity to visit Lowell Observatory for a live presentation and peer through the telescope at the night sky.

Sunday morning, enjoy a private hot breakfast before departing for Walnut Canyon. This beautiful National Monument features cliff dwellings, home to the Sinagua people, 700 years ago. A Forest Ranger will provide an interpretive talk about the archeological and natural resources in the Canyon. Then we travel along the Arizona Trail through Coconino National Forest to Mormon Lake, where you will be treated to lunch at the Mormon Lake Lodge. Enjoy the beauty of the Mogollon Rim as we return to Phoenix via Payson, arriving at Desert Botanical Garden by 6:00 pm.

Includes: Roundtrip transportation in a luxury motor coach, professional driver and tour guide, one night’s lodging including breakfast, two lunches, all admissions. Bottled water and snacks provided on the motor coach.

Not included: Personal expenses, dinner on Saturday night, gratuities to guide and driver.
